Jim Sparks

Jim Sparks, CEO

Jim is our CEO and a highly-regarded figure in the borate industry. Before he came to American Borate Company in 1982, Jim was with Owens Corning for over 21 years and held various positions in sales, marketing and product management. Jim brought his experience to ABC and has led our team from its earliest days. He continues to explore the possibilities of boron for practical, everyday uses. Jim graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business management.

Kristin Sparks

Kristin Sparks, COO

Kristin oversees the warehouse operations, customer service, and quality assurance for American Borate Company as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining ABC in 2010, she worked in the luxury hotel industry and for a luxury private residence club. In those jobs, Kristin served as a front desk agent, executive assistance, meeting concierge and travel planner. Kristin graduated from Boston University with a BS in business administration and minor in hospitality administration, a first for the school.

Linda Bowers

Linda Bowers, CPA, CFO

Linda is the Chief Financial Officer and joined American Borate Company in 2015. Linda is a Certified Public Accountant with 30 years of experience in both public and private accounting. Linda has held various senior level accounting positions and recently served as the Vice President of Finance and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Dominion Enterprises and was responsible for coordinating strategic planning, developing annual capital and operating budgets and management reporting and analysis. Linda started her career in public accounting providing audit and tax services and was a manager at the international accounting firm KPMG LLP. Linda is a native of Hampton Roads and is a graduate of Christopher Newport University.

Bob Reid

Bob Reid, National Sales Manager

Bob is the national sales manager for American Borate Company and oversees several of the company’s largest accounts. He joined the ABC family in 2000 after many years in borate sales. A graduate of Hamilton College, Bob began his career with CVS pharmacy and then worked for US Borax in different capacities for 13 years. With over two decades in the borate industry, Bob is a trusted expert at ABC.

Paul Wilcox

Paul Wilcox, Regional Sales Manager

Paul is a regional sales manager for American Borate Company and covers the Midwest and Northeast regions. No stranger to sales, Paul has worked in the field for nearly 25 years. He began his career selling solvents with a New Jersey distributor, Mellen Chemicals, and later became national sales manager for Carus Chemical Company. In 2003, Paul joined US Borax, where he managed the Midwest sales territory and the North American distribution network. Now Paul brings his considerable sales experience to the ABC team.

Brian Dubuque

Brian Dubuque, Director of Operations

Brian oversees the warehouse operations, customer service, logistics and sourcing for American Borate Company as Director of Operations. Prior to joining ABC in 2018, he worked for Cosentino as a General Manager for their eastern distribution facility for 4 years. Brian began his career at Dollar Tree holding various positions throughout the distribution network over an 8-year tenure. Brian graduated from Northeastern University with a BS in supply chain management and accounting.

Pat Riddle

Pat Riddle, Logistics and Sourcing Manager

Pat oversees logistics and sourcing at American Borate Company, a position he has held for over 20 years. If borates are on the move, Pat is behind them in some way. Prior to ABC, Pat worked in the grocery business, as a logistics supervisor for Ryder Truck Lines and as a sales manager for DLM, a steel fabricating company. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama – Birmingham.

Lorna Gonwa

Lorna Gonwa, Customer Service Supervisor

Lorna is the customer service supervisor and joined American Borate Company in 2013. She ensures that the department is running smoothly so ABC’s customers know they are our priority. In addition, Lorna is the main point of contact for accounts receivable and quality. Lorna is a veteran of the U.S. Navy where she served four years as a Logistic Specialist. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Communications Advertising and dual minors in Marketing and Sociology.

Philip Ford

Philip Ford, Director of Technical Sales and Quality Conformance

Philip is the Director of Technical Sales and Quality Conformance for American Borate Company and manages the laboratory. He joined the ABC family in 2017 after many years in borate sales. A graduate of Imperial College, London Philip began his career working in South Africa and, after completing an MBA then worked for Rio Tinto/US Borax with varying responsibilities both international and in the US for 18 years. Philip now brings his experience to complement the ABC team in support of the sales effort.
